We spent 9 days in the Czech Republic this summer, going to – among other places – Prague, Klatovy and Marienbad. As luck would have it, they had the hottest weather for some 40 years while we were there.
So my pictures are set in blazing heat and high humidity. Full of tourists, of course, but still quite manageable. And when you leave the center of Prague, you barely notice tourists anymore.
I tried to show the colors. I guess there is a still a lot of imagery out there that shows the grayness and the decay we associate with the former Eastern Bloc. But, hey, that was already some time ago. The Czechs are doing quite well, thank you, and they do like to tell you that they were never “Eastern”, but perhaps “Central”, or even “Western”. It is a friendly and beautiful place. But that language…
